Ottawa Tourism Announces Recipients of Nightlife Tourism Development Fund

Ottawa Tourism announced funding support for 10 projects through its Nightlife Tourism Development Fund, representing a total investment by Ottawa Tourism of $215,000 to help animate the city with new and enhanced nighttime experiences. The fund strengthens Ottawa’s position as a vibrant destination by supporting activities that drive overnight visitation and highlight the diversity of experiences available between 6:00pm-6:00am.

The fund supports new and expanded nighttime experiences that contribute to Ottawa’s cultural vibrancy and visitor appeal. The program focuses on initiatives and projects that reflect and strengthen priority areas such as arts and culture, Indigenous experiences, official languages, diversity and inclusion; all central to enhancing Ottawa’s reputation as a vibrant and welcoming destination.

“As the first Destination Organization in Canada to offer a dedicated funding stream for nightlife, Ottawa Tourism is showing real leadership,” said Mathieu Grondin, Nightlife Commissioner of the City of Ottawa. “These intentional investments will unlock creativity, animate our neighbourhoods and position the city as a destination where culture and connection continue well beyond traditional hours.”

The following projects have been selected as recipients of the Nightlife Tourism Development Fund:

• spectrasonic Concert Series at HISTORY Ottawa (Dates TBD) — spectrasonic will produce a multi‑event concert series at HISTORY Ottawa, featuring high‑profile Canadian artists.

• Latin Sparks: The City Series (May-December 2026) — The International Love Project will deliver a year-round series of nighttime Latin and Afrodiasporic cultural events across Ottawa, activating multiple neighbourhoods through music, dance and culinary experiences developed with regional and national partners.

• Fiesta Cubana Fest: Closing Night “Ottawa Goes Latin” (June 2026) — Latin Hub Canada will present the closing night of Fiesta Cubana Fest with a high‑impact late‑night headline performance by Latin Grammy–winning artist Alain Pérez y La Orquesta at the Bronson Music Centre.

• The Richmond Estate Winery Concert Series (June-September 2026) — Ottawa Boat Cruise will launch a new river‑based nightlife series aboard the Ottawa River Queen, transforming the vessel into a floating entertainment venue hosting recurring late‑evening themed cruises and special events from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. throughout the summer season.

• Ottawa Boat Cruise Nightlife Series (June-September 2026) — Ottawa Boat Cruise will launch a new river‑based nightlife series aboard the Ottawa River Queen, transforming the vessel into a floating entertainment venue hosting recurring late‑evening themed cruises and special events from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. throughout the summer season.

• Punk and Grunge Festival “Capital Punishment” (July 2026) — Chord Productions will expand its festival into a three‑day, multi‑venue underground music showcase, activating downtown Ottawa venues with late‑night punk, metal, hardcore, rock and EDM programming that encourages venue‑hopping and overnight stays.

• LOL Ottawa Comedy Festival (July 23-25, 2026) — Laugh Lounge Ottawa will launch a new multi‑venue comedy festival in the ByWard Market, combining daytime activations with vibrant late‑night shows across walkable venues during peak summer tourism season.

• After Taste Wellington West (September 2026) — The Wellington West BIA will introduce After Taste, a nighttime expansion of the Taste of Wellington festival, transforming Wellington Street West into a connected evening destination through live music, illuminated street elements and chef‑led culinary experiences.

• AfroFestival Ottawa: AfroFest Nights (September 11-13, 2026) — Africa Live Canada expands its signature three‑day AfroFestival with a new late‑night AfroFest Nights program, featuring internationally recognized Black artists and nightlife programming.

• Ottawa Christmas Market New Year’s Eve Bash (December 31, 2026) — The Ottawa Christmas Market, operated by the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) will enhance its New Year’s Eve celebration at Lansdowne Park with extended nighttime programming, including live performances, midnight fireworks and a new synchronized drone light show to anchor Ottawa’s year‑end nightlife offering.
