One-Time Grant Programs Now Open to Mark Ottawa’s 200th Anniversary

On January 20^th, 2026, the City of Ottawa launched two, one-time signature grant programs to mark Ottawa’s 200^th anniversary in 2026:  

Ottawa 200 Artist/Creator Grant Program, in collaboration with the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) and Arts Ottawa to support artist/creator-led projects and organizations that will mentor and showcase emerging artists/creators.  

• Stream 1: Artist/Creator Grant for individuals  

Grants up to $10,000 for artists/creators with a  professional practice. 

• Stream 2: Signature Project Grant for organizations  

Grants up to $100,000 for local arts organizations supporting local first-time or emerging artists / creators to realize their work by providing mentorship throughout the creative process. 

Deadline: February 25^th, 2026   

Ottawa 200 Civic Events Funding Program to support cultural and community non-profit-led events that are free to the public and suitable for all ages.  

• Stream 1: High impact events – up to $25,000 in funding  

This funding stream supports the development of large-to-medium scale events. Priority will be given to projects that engage event producers, artists or cultural curators to create experiences to be enjoyed by residents, customers and tourists during the Bytown 200^th anniversary celebrations. 

• Stream 2: Local community events – up to $10,000 in funding   

This funding stream supports smaller scale local civic events that focus on Ottawa’s civic pride during the Bytown 200^th anniversary celebrations. 

Deadline: February 27^th, 2026  

These grant programs will distribute $600,000 across the city in 2026 to engage diverse youth, cultural, Indigenous and Francophone populations to amplify, celebrate and acknowledge the shared stories and experiences shaping our city’s identity.  

Artists and art collectives of various disciplines, as well as cultural and community non-profits, are encouraged to apply. 

 From public installations and activations to festivals and events, successful nightlife projects are set to define Ottawa’s 200^th anniversary.
